I do not believe the trade cap counts for anything in the auction house. I think trade cap has to do with just trades and that is just that you have to be a certain level to accept a certain level Poke. However I am kind of new here so I may be incorrect but as far as I know that is what I get from this trade cap.

Yes there is a auction cap, I believe it's the same as the trade cap which is :

Trainerlevel 0 - 500 = Trade cap lvl 500
Trainerlevel 500 - 10,000 = Trade cap Trainerlevel
Trainerlevel 10,000 - 14,999 = Trade cap : lvl 10,000
Trainerlevel 15,000 - 19,999 = Trade cap : lvl 11,000
Trainerlevel 20,000 - 29,999 = Trade cap : lvl 12,500
Trainerlevel 30,000+ = Trade cap : lvl 15,000.

You can only bid on pokemon that equal your trade cap or lower.

it is a new thing that has been installed for this website in the auction you can only bid on 10k pokemon with a trainer level of 500 or less with a higher trainer level like 15,000 you can bid on pokemon higher than maybe 15k. Now your trainer level decides the pokemon you can bid on
