I just bought an item finder, but I don't know how to use it. do I just walk around? can someone tell me?

If you equipped it under manage items, yes you just walk around on maps
But its also dependent on the weather |

Yeh what sinner said. You can also go under your town and click forecast to check if the weather is good for your item finder.
