I know,Boon,per say the Safari Zone(you get access to the other room when in Fuchsia City) as well as the Dark Cave and the Snowpoint Town.
This generally works for the forest,if you notice,has been updated to a never ending greenery.

This is a 'tool' that lets you see the area of the maps,example the forest,how many obstacles are there,where you cannot go,how long a certain path stretches.It can be turned on or off in the preferences so players can choose to have it displayed or not. For some very big maps,the navigation tool will definitely be taking up a lot of space so players can choose to hide it at certain times.

Now how is the idea now?

i think that this is a good idea, that way we know which way to go on the map, and which areas that we havent explored yet. :-)
