OK, but there are some problems with your ideas:
1. Remember what status effects do. Burns cuts down your ATK while damaging per turn, Freezes stop your Pokemon until they unfreeze, sleep is a shorter version of Freeze, Paralyze cuts Speed and can potentially stop your Pokemon for a turn, and confused has a chance of stopping and hurting your Pokemon for a turn.

2. Items are a nice counter, but again, wouldn't work well. Why? Because they could keep stat-effecting you, making you blow through all of your items to fix a reoccurring problem(s).

It's not a bad idea, but it just needs some work.

good idea but i dont think people will really buy the item if the burned frozen thing happend because i know i couldnt buy it

But there are moves in Pokemon that have a 100% chance of inflicting the Effect:
Will o' the Wisp for Burns, Thunder Wave for Paralysis, Hypnosis for Sleep, Confuse Ray for Confusion, and.. well none for Freeze, but you get the point.
What is stopping people from using these above moves to stop people from winning?

Ehh...I'm fine with just having poison status problem for now. Sounds like a lot of work for Da Man to add in more. I'm sure if he wants some more, he'll add some. :)

Thus breaking the meta and making the problems I talked about even more prevalent. It may be good for the economy, but what about game balance?

Hmm... Perhaps. I can see where you're coming from, but... I still don't think it'll work. I agree with alejanquq14, You'll need to motivate them to buy the items, otherwise, they're just sitting there, not being bought.
